Decorated WWII pilot Ray Firmani to speak in Dover June 16

June 15, 2018

The Air Mobility Command Museum will host Chat with a Hero: the Ray Firmani Story, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, June 16.

Firmani was a B-17 pilot with the 486th Heavy Bombardment Group of the Mighty Eighth Air Force during WWII. He will be at the museum to share his life experiences and then personally sign copies of his book "Against All Odds."

A first-generation Italian-American who became the head of his household at an early age, Firmani met every challenge life offered. After enlisting in the Army, he earned his wings.

The book tells of his boyhood years and military training, including earning his pilot's wings. It also describes his 25 harrowing combat missions, and the extraordinary heroism which resulted in his being awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.

There is no fee, and no tickets are required for admission or parking.
