Delaware Hospice recognizes National Pastoral Care Week

November 16, 2017

In honor of National Pastoral Care Week, Delaware Hospice invited Delaware's clergy to be a part of discussion on end of life Oct. 25 at the center in Milford. Nearly 30 clergy members from the community participated.

The panel consisted of Kaye Bennett, compassionate care ministry at Crossroads Community Church in Georgetown; Cornelius Murphy, director of care ministry, Calvary Church in Dover; Sondra Satterfield, MSW, LCSW, bereavement supervisor for Delaware Hospice; Yesnia Sudler, RN, Delaware Hospice; and the Rev. Jim Couzens, Lebanon Wesleyan Church, Dover. Throughout the workshop, there was a positive exchange of information being shared among a variety of religious and congregations on how they assist with dying, death and bereavement journeys.

"The event was to help facilitate a discussion amongst local religious leaders on how they manage their own personal feelings of grief, as well as provide resources to better assist their daily work," said Scott Edwards, MDiv, LPC, chaplain and clinical supervisor. "We hope to continue to provide this particular program in the future."
