Delaware Seashore State Park will be offering programs Wednesday through Saturday, Dec. 27-30, giving participants the opportunity to get out and about during the holidays.

Families are invited to attend a squid dissection class at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 27. Participants will get to dissect their own squid specimen while learning about its adaptations for survival. Cost is $6 per person and recommended for ages 6 and up. At 7 p.m., visitors can venture to the Indian River Life-Saving Station for the ever-popular lantern tour for a journey through the station's past, lit by lantern light. This program is $10 and is recommended for ages 10 and up.

Park staff will be hosting an upcycling craft, known as nautical flag art, at 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 18. Visitors will learn about the history and uses of the International Code of Signals, and then paint their own message in nautical flags on a piece of reclaimed wood from the park itself. This program is $20 per person, and is recommended for ages 10 and up.

Park visitors are invited to get outside and hike parts of the park Friday, Dec. 29. At 1 p.m., a park naturalist will lead a guided hike of Burton Island Nature Preserve. A guided sunset hike of the Indian River Inlet bridge will be offered at 4 p.m. Both hikes are $5 per person.

A family-friendly guided museum tour of the Indian River Life-Saving Station will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 30. Tours are $5 per person. At 1 p.m., the park will be debuting a new program about park stewardship entitled New Age Beachcombing, which is also $5 per person.
