The Delmarva Christian boys’ basketball team used a 31-point second quarter to take a 35-27 lead at the half and a 30-21 advantage in the second half to post a 65-48 victory to avenge their Dec. 18 loss to Worcester Prep.
Brothers Christopher and Joshua Vonhof each scored 18 points to lead the Royals. Andrew Workman chipped in 13, while Anthony and Wyatt Kwiatkowski each put six points in the book.
Colin Miller led the Mallards with 17, while senior Tucker Brown added 10.
The Royals dropped a 59-41 decision to Sussex Central Feb. 7 at home. Joshua Vonhof scored 15 for the Royals. Workman added eight, while Colin Vonhof scored seven and the Kwiatkowski brothers each had five.
The Royals are now 10-8 on the season.
Dan has worked for the Cape Gazette for more than 30 years as a photographer and reporter, covering high school sports and happenings around eastern Sussex County. He won a photography award from the National Newspaper Association, and numerous awards from the Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016. He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
