Delmarva Electric Bikes has officially moved from Savannah Road in Lewes to a new location on Route 1.  The store’s grand reopening was held June 18 to celebrate the move.

The new location is four times the size of the old store, allowing the company to carry a larger supply of bikes and expand its service department. It is currently the only full-service electric bike store on the Delmarva Peninsula.

Electric bikes are the wave of the future, said store owner Don Holler. “The electric bike market is increasing at 28-30 percent a year,” he says. The electric motor on the bikes helps people stay active longer, giving them another 10 to 15 years of exercise and activity.

Holler says many people can benefit from the bikes, including seniors, people coming out of surgery or rehab or just anyone looking for efficient transportation. They are also useful for recreation and fitness. Riders have full control and can choose to pedal a little, pedal a lot, or fully rely on the electric motor. Simple and efficient, the modern lithium batteries are rechargeable and sit on the back wheel.

So far the new location has proved beneficial. “We’ve already had more business in our first two months here than we did in six months at the other place,” says Holler.
