Department of Agriculture to hold public hearing on regulatory review in Georgetown Aug. 24

August 12, 2016

The Delaware Department of Agriculture will hold public hearings this month in all three counties under House Bill 147, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by Gov. Jack Markell in 2015. The law requires executive branch agencies to review their existing regulations to determine whether they should be amended or rescinded.

Pursuant to 29 Delaware Code Section 10407, DDA is conducting a review of regulations that have not been updated within the last four years and which are not under the purview of a state commission. The latter category includes the Delaware Agricultural Lands Preservation Foundation, the Nutrient Management Commission, the Thoroughbred Racing Commission and the Harness Racing Commission.

The department will be soliciting input from the public through Saturday, Oct. 1. In addition, the department is conducting an internal review of its regulations and will hold one public hearing in each county.

The public hearing in Sussex County will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 24, at the Carvel Research & Education Center, 16483 County Seat Highway, Georgetown.
