Dewey Beach police are seeking a vehicle that fled the scene of a collision that occurred about 8:15 p.m., April 25, at the intersection of Coastal Highway northbound and Dickinson Avenue.

Lt. Cliff Dempsey said officers who responded to the collision found a center median light pole in the roadway. Officers searched the area but could not locate a vehicle with consistent damage.

After reviewing the Dewey Beach Police crime camera system, Dempsey said officers observed a dark-colored 2020-24 Hyundai Genesis or Santa Fe exiting the ocean block of Dickinson Avenue. Police say the vehicle failed to negotiate the turn properly, collided with the light pole and continued northbound on Coastal Highway, out of Dewey Beach town limits.

Police say the vehicle had moderate front-end damage, and it is unclear if the occupants of the vehicle were injured. No pedestrians or other motorists reported any damage or injuries, police said, but the collision also destroyed two Dewey Beach Police crime cameras.

Anyone with any information about this vehicle's whereabouts or the operator's identity is asked to contact the Dewey Beach Police Department at 302-227-1110 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
