Dewey Sip & Shop returns Nov. 24-26 with new indoor venue

October 22, 2023

The Developing Artist Collaboration will be returning in a new location for its popular Black Friday weekend shopping event, Dewey Sip & Shop, set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday to Sunday, Nov. 24 to 26, at the Hyatt Place Dewey Beach, 1301 Coastal Hwy., Dewey Beach. The event is free to attend, with free parking all throughout Dewey Beach.

The move has been made possible by four local businesses – Meluney Alleman & Spence, Woody’s Dewey Beach Grill, Surf Shanty Motel and The Starboard – along with the Delaware Tourism Office, which have generously sponsored this year's Dewey Sip and Shop.

With these generous investments, DAC was able to move the event to the Hyatt Dewey, as tents used in prior years have proven difficult due to unpredictable weather conditions. “This event started in Dewey and we want to forever keep it in Dewey,” said DAC founder Leah Beach, a Dewey Beach native. “Finding an indoor venue has been a goal of ours, but finding the right venue has been challenging. With these key sponsors, we are thrilled to be keeping this event here in the town of Dewey. We wouldn’t want it any other way.”

Steve Montgomery, a longtime DAC supporter, has enjoyed seeing the event evolve. “Dewey Sip and Shop has grown each year into a marquee holiday event for Dewey Beach. It brings so many folks into town that are excited to support local artwork, and find unique gifts for friends and family. It also allows them to do a little shopping, then support the many local food and drink businesses open that time of year in Dewey, making for a wonderful all-around event here in Dewey Beach.”

This will be DAC’s 9th Dewey Sip and Shop – the event initially began on a much smaller scale at the Starboard back in 2018. It has grown in size and continues to provide a lucrative platform for hundreds of local artists to sell their art and handmade, creative goods to locals and visitors alike over Thanksgiving weekend.

This three-day event has proven beneficial for participating artists. All DAC merchandise and bar sales fund the Rehoboth-based nonprofit’s mission of providing education, resources, opportunities and connection to elevate its artists’ creative careers.
