Dissent is crucial to our survival

May 5, 2017

The parallels between today and the Lincoln administration are striking.

You have sanctuary cities, a form of secession. You have the press and others giving aid and comfort to our enemies in time of war via constant harassment of our lawfully elected president and his political party.

And yes, we are at war, so far undeclared by us, with ISIS and North Korea.

Just like in Lincoln's time, you have the Democrats sabotaging national defense and the freedom of African-Americans in order to pander to frightened citizens and ascend to political power. And you have the Republicans, divided between the Tea Party radicals and the moderate, pragmatic centrists like our president, struggling to keep our fragile democracy and national unity intact gainst overwhelming odds.

Like him or not, just like Lincoln, our new president is a man of unbelievable personal courage. He promised to Make America Great Again.

If we are all Americans, who could complain about that?

Dissent is crucial to our survival.

But when dissent degrades into rebellion, anarchy and treason, as it does regularly in a so-called free society, it cannot be ignored, and must be exposed for what it is.
