Distillation Saturdays continue at Brittingham Farms Sept. 9

September 6, 2023

Brittingham Farms’ Distillation Saturdays series will continue through Nov. 18, at 22518 Phillips Hill Road, Millsboro.

Laura Brittingham said, "We are so excited for the local collaborations we have coming to the farm this fall. This series of events will offer guest vendors every Saturday through the fall as well as tours of our new artisanal, copper distillery meant for distilling our farm-grown lavender into lavender essential oil and hydrosol. Our distillery is the first of its kind in our area. We have two 7-foot-tall, copper stills handmade for us from Portugal. Copper is the gold standard in distilling, and we are very proud of the oil and hydrosol products our distillery is making. The distillery will be open to the public for touring while we distill, and we will be demonstrating how our copper stills work. Come take a photo with our large wall of drying lavender.”

Distillery tours are $8 for adults and $2 for children; cost includes viewing the sheep, distillery and lavender wall.

Brittingham said, “We have three different amazing classes with the following local makers: Annie's Market Stand Bath Bomb making class; Davis Crafted wool felting for beginners, making a succulent vessel and soap cover with our own fleeces; and Joyce Lapp offering instruction for beginner needle felting to make a Leicester Longwool sheep figurine out of our wool; all while Probert Farms runs its beginner horsemanship class in the paddock behind our farm store.”

The Davis Crafted wool felting class is set for 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 16.

Joyce Lapp's Sheep Needle Felting Class will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 30.
