Dogfish, City Hall construction ongoing

October 20, 2016

Construction on the new Dogfish Head brewpub and Rehoboth Beach City Hall complex is taking shape as steel beams rise into the fall sky.

Dogfish Head’s new $4 million brewpub is being built in two phases with the first half of the new 9,400-square-foot building going up in a former parking lot. Once that half of the building is up, Dogfish will demolish the existing brewpub and build the remainder of the restaurant. Heather Kenton, spokeswoman for Dogfish Head said the new building will be ready by spring, with no disruptions of service expected.

Meanwhile, the $18 million Rehoboth City Hall is on track for completion in July 2017, City Manager Sharon Lynn said. She said some time was lost to rain last month and in early October, but the project is still just about on schedule.

Lynn said structural steel continues to be installed and roof trusses are to be placed in mid-November. Electrical and plumbing work has been completed in the basement and contractors  are up to the second floor, she said, with concrete still being poured. ANDREW THOMAS PHOTOS
