Dolores ‘Snookie’ S. Saunders, DuPont retiree

Dolores "Snookie" S. Saunders, 88, of Millsboro, passed away Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, while surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Wilmington, Oct. 30, 1929, daughter of the late Wilmer and Loretta (Cregg) Sutherlan.

She graduated from Wilmington High School, and also graduated from Goldey-Beacom College, where she was a member of several sororities.

Dolores retired as a secretary with the DuPont Company in Wilmington. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, and also served as the president of the Resident Council at Renaissance Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Millsboro, where she had been a resident for the last six years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy "Lee" Saunders in 1993. She is survived by her caregiver and cousin, Christine Oliphant and her two daughters, Megan and Mindi Oliphant; cousins, Lynn Anderson, Carole Leach, Barbara Hoover and Judy Apolico; and two godsons, William Anderson III and Mark Conaway.

A service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 9, in the Chapel of the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.
