St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Lewes will host a drug and alcohol awareness presentation at 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 19, in the parish hall. Pauline Powell from the Sussex County Chapter of Attack Addiction will lead the discussion. All are welcome and encouraged to attend to learn more about this problem which is rapidly growing in Sussex County and around the country, and can affect anyone.
Attack Addiction was established to educate and bring awareness of addiction as a disease, rather than the stigma that is suffered in shame by those with the disease and their loved ones. Attack Addiction seeks to educate by speaking at schools, prisons and any other venues where there is an interest in learning more about the disease of addiction. Members strive to bring real and effective change to existing drug policy. Attack Addiction is not a support group, but supports those in recovery, those who have a loved one in recovery or those who have lost a loved one to addiction. Facilities are handicapped accessible. The address is 211 Mulberry St. in Lewes. For more information, call 302-645-8479.
