The Eagles season can't start off any worse

August 11, 2016

The Eagles haven't even played their first preseason game and yet all the news has been negative. In training camp, a lot of the important players have already been injured to some extent. Over 20 players have been reported to have sustained some level of injury during training sessions.

Tight end, Zach Ertz suffered a concussion and will be out at least a few of the preseason games and defensive back Malcolm Jenkins has a hamstring injury that will continue to be an unknown as to when he will be able to play. This certainly isn't a good start to the year.

To add insult to injury, offensive lineman Lane Johnson will probably get suspended for the first 10 games for using steroids for the second time. If he gets to come back for the last six games I don't want to hear him complain. He needs to just be quiet and do his job.

This week’s article has plenty to offer from the Summer Olympics in Rio and thankfully it's all positive. I've been very impressed with the United States overall performance. Both men’s and women’s swimming has been excellent. It seems like the US team is winning a medal in every event. Phelps’ gold medal count is amazing but he is certainly not the only shining star.

The US women's gymnastics has dominated right from day one. They have completely overwhelmed their competition and have won the team gold medal by the biggest margin of victory since the scoring format was changed many years ago. If China and Germany don't start earning more medals for their countries, the United States will win the overall medal count by a large margin.

Mind you, this would actually be pretty awesome if it continues to play this well for the US teams. There is plenty more to watch and follow in the week ahead. Go USA!
