September 25, 2017

Easterseals Delaware & Maryland's Eastern Shore and CAMP Rehoboth are teaming up to provide a Savvy Caregiver series this fall. The classes aim to provide knowledge and skills essential to those who are caring for a loved one living with Alzheimer's or dementia.

To accommodate working caregivers' schedules, classes will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesdays, Oct. 18 to Nov. 8 at CAMP Rehoboth, 37 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach. The series will present information on how caregivers can create a more fulfilling life for loved ones and maintain a healthy balance in their own lives. A light dinner will be provided.

"CAMP Rehoboth is excited about this partnership with Easterseals and to bring the Savvy Caregiver series to the community in Rehoboth Beach. As more members of the community are acting as caregivers to loved ones, there is a need for this class to teach them better caregiving skills," said Salvatore Seeley, health and wellness director for CAMP Rehoboth. "This class comes at a time when we've had an influx of LGBTQ community members calling and asking about resources for someone they are taking care of with dementia or Alzheimer's."

In addition to the savvy caregiver classes, Easterseals has a number of supports for caregivers, such as the Caregiver Resource Center and grants for respite care. For more information about Easterseals caregiver resources, or to register for the classes, contact Christine Santy at 302-253-1129 or csanty@esdel.org.
