Edward ‘Ed’ Kuntz, retired salesman

Edward "Ed" S. Kuntz, 97, of Lewes, formerly of Nokomis, Fla., passed away peacefully at his residence Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, with his family by his side. He was born June 16, 1914, in New York City, N.Y., son of the late William and Sadie (Scriven) Kuntz.

Mr. Kuntz was a member of the Bakery Drivers and Salesman Local 194, Brotherhood of Teamsters Union for many years. He was raised in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of New York City and loved telling stories of watching the Empire State Building and the Holland Tunnel being constructed. He loved all New York sports teams, especially the Giants and the Mets. He was a tinkerer at heart who worked on automobiles, crafts and woodworking. He loved traveling with his wife in their RV. They visited every state in the union twice. Mr. Kuntz was a member of the Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge 2540 and an honorary member of American Legion Post 17.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lorraine (Then) Kuntz, in 1947, and by his second wife of 53 years, Frances (Miller) Kuntz, in 2002. He is survived by two daughters: Marianne Furman and her husband William, and Lorraine Cintron and husband Jose, all of Milton; six grandchildren: William Furman Jr. of Boston, Mass., Michael Furman and wife Coleen of Dagsboro, Candee Marie Cintron and husband Nicholas Maxymuik of Philadelphia, Pa., Scott Furman and wife Stacie of Lewes, Leigh Ann Zerden of Townsend and Joseph Todd Cintron of Los Angeles, Calif.; and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 22, at St. Peter's Cemetery, Pilottown Road, Lewes; Pastor Fred Duncan will be officiating.  Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
