Fire damages home in Angola by the Bay

November 9, 2022

A fire Nov. 8 damaged a home in Angola.

Firefighters from Rehoboth Beach, Lewes and Indian River responded to the blaze at 11:40 p.m. on Marina Drive in the Angola by the Bay development, where they found the rear of the home consumed by heavy fire, said Ken Swarts of the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company.

Damage was mostly confined to the porch and a storage unit of the one-story home, Swarts said. All of the occupants got out safely, he said, along with their pets. No one else was injured during the fire, he said.

Units worked for two hours putting out hot spots at the house, and also at a neighbor’s shed and among the surrounding trees.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
