Portugal. The Man put on a noteworthy show at Delaware’s Firefly Music Festival, covering Metallica, Pink Floyd and the Beatles, all the while continuously playing their instruments for the entire set without taking a break. Delaware native Nathaniel Wilkins, who has been going to Firefly since 2013, said, “That was in the top three best performances I’ve ever seen at Firefly.”

A fairly quiet first day at Firefly ended when Jimmy Eat World took the stage, as the band made sure to get the party started right Friday night. Fans erupted at the end of the set, as the band concluded with their iconic song “The Middle.”

Kendrick Lamar also gave his fans an exciting show, shooting off fireworks in the middle and at the end of his set.

Eminem surprised fans when Skylar Grey came out to help perform “Stan” and “Love the Way You Lie.” He then added to their ecstasy by coming out for an encore, performing “Lose Yourself” as his final song.

The unexpected happened at Vance Joy’s show, when a couple got engaged. Joy called them out in congratulations and subsequently dedicated his next song to the couple.

Even more unexpected, The Killers made a fan’s night one to remember as they invited him on stage to play the drums for their song, “For Reasons Unknown.”

Artists such as Arctic Monkeys, Lil Wayne, Foster the People, alt-J, and Odesza also blessed festival goers with phenomenal performances.

Things were not entirely enjoyable, though, as Caroline Friedman, 20, of Philadelphia, passed away on the final day of the festival. She was found unconscious after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Dover police made multiple arrests during the festival, including William Rodriguez, 34, of Miami, who was arrested for stealing 27 cell phones.

The dates for Firefly Music Festival 2019 have not yet been released.
