Foertsch's essay right on target

February 5, 2018

For once I have to agree completely with Geary Foertsch's essay of Jan. 23, on civil asset forfeiture.

Not all thieves are slinking around at night. Unfortunately many of them wear badges and carry guns and steal people's property based on an unconstitutional glitch. They, the cops, are enriching themselves with other people's property.

I certainly hope that Sen Bonini's bill will pass the smell test, although I have my doubts. When the cops make as much money as they do now, with this law in effect, I can't see how they will allow SB 60 to pass.
