On behalf of Fraternal Order of Police Sussex County Lodge 2, I would like to take this opportunity to offer a heartfelt thank you for a job well done to the participants in our Share Your Christmas charity event for three needy families in Sussex County. On Dec. 16, the Lewes, Millsboro, Indian River, and Milton fire departments, along with the Milton Police Department and Delaware State Police Troop 7, participated in taking Santa and a huge entourage of fire trucks, police cars and numerous members of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 2 to three homes of needy families, putting smiles and lots of tears on the faces of children who would have had a very bleak Christmas morning.
A special "from our hearts to yours" goes out to fire chiefs Dennis Swain of Station 83, Hayden Klingler of Station 80, Johnny Hopkins of Station 85, Trooper Patrick Jackson of DSP Troop 7, PFC Jose Mendez of Milton Police Department, Jerry Gibson, Tina Rivera, Dale Hammond, Denise Weston of FOP Lodge 2, and Lodge President Greg Fuller. Sussex County District 3 Councilman Mark G. Schaeffer was also on hand to represent council and support our event. This charity event would not have been possible without their commitment to excellence, compassion for the less fortunate, love for children, financial support and relentless professionalism during this holiday season. Our Share Your Christmas charity event was the finest ever, and all the individuals participating are without a doubt the best in class!
It was a total team effort, and one we will engage in next Christmas as well. May the good Lord, or whatever higher power you believe in, bestow his/her blessing on all of you and your families for this wonderful event, and keep you safe during the holiday season. You did a lot of good for a lot of deserving families! Your friendship is humbling.
