Forget the polls, get out and vote

October 20, 2016

On Sunday, Oct. 16, the Washington Post issued its latest presidential poll and noted several important points. First is the headline, Hillary leads by 4 percent and the margin of error is 4 percent. Although this seems like a dead heat, they say Hillary is edging Trump. Second is that voters are locked into their positions. At this point it doesn't seem like anything will change anyone's mind.

But there are also polls being done in Delaware, polls that show a race already won. The Washington Post and the University of Delaware have Hillary winning by 14 percent and 21 percent, respectively. If the Washington Post is correct that gap will not close. For those of us living in Sussex County, a very red voting district, it's clear the decision is being made for us by our northern neighbors in New Castle County, and that decision is for Hillary.

But even while Delaware's electoral college votes will go to Hillary, the local elections still matter. Get out and vote!
