Funsters welcome new member Nancy Curry to the band

April 29, 2024

The Funsters, a longtime Cape Region favorite musical group, announced female singer-musician Nancy Curry has joined the venerable all-male lineup, after impressive impromptu sit-in performances with the band in recent years at the annual Harry K Foundation fundraiser.

Curry has performed for years as a solo act and as a member of the duo Ginger with her husband Mike Curry, a guitarist with Love Seed Mama Jump.

“The addition of stellar musician, vocalist and performing artist Nancy Curry brings new life, new energy, and a new look to the Funsters, and expands our musical catalog,” said Sherman Ward, frontman. “Curry mentions ‘At Last’ by Etta James and ‘Respect’ by Aretha Franklin as examples of the kind of songs she can bring to the band and says her becoming a member opens up a whole world of female-driven music from soul to pop to rock.”

Funsters drummer and vocalist Ed Shockley said, “The band is looking forward to the range of music Nancy will add to our vault of rock and soul music. Female vocalists have ruled the charts for the last two decades, and we will now be adding that dimension to our performances.”

The Funsters will also be performing at many free summer concerts for local communities including Lewes, Rehoboth Beach, Milton, Milford and Georgetown, bringing their upbeat, dance-style entertainment to new and old fans throughout Sussex County.
