George Wallace Tidwell, had many interests

George Wallace Tidwell, 87, of Georgetown, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Atlantic Shores Rehabilitation & Health Center. He was born in New Castle, in his grandmother's home,  Tuesday, Nov. 18, 1930, son of the late George Paul and Hazel (Dryden) Tidwell.

Mr. Tidwell grew up in and spent most of his life in Georgetown. He attended NRI National Radio Institute, where he learned to repair radios, televisions and other electronics. Mr. Tidwell worked for All American Engineering, and later worked for Bancroft Engineering in Lewes, retiring in 1993. He was a licensed pilot, having earned his pilot’s license even before he could drive. Mr. Tidwell had many interests, including solving puzzles and building model planes and sailboats. Above all, Mr. Tidwell treasured the time spent with his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Tidwell was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Lou Tidwell. He is survived by his sons: Thomas Tidwell (Earl) of Lewes, Steve Tidwell (Connie) of Milford, and Mark Tidwell (Julie) of Philadelphia, Pa.; his daughter, Susan Reynolds (Ed) of Georgetown; his grandchildren: Shawn Tidwell of Millsboro and Nicole Reynolds of Millsboro; his great-grandchildren: Lane Tidwell of Millsboro and Harley Tidwell of Millsboro; his brothers: David Tidwell (Barbara) of Georgetown and Danny Tidwell (JoAnne) of Georgetown; his sister, Lorraine Rogers of Georgetown; and his many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 24, at 11 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 North Bedford St., Georgetown, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow the services at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 25136 Dupont Blvd., Georgetown.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mr. Tidwell's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 108 North Bedford St., Georgetown, DE 19947.
