Georgetown-Millsboro Rotary opens Flags for Heroes campaign

February 19, 2017

The Georgetown-Millsboro Rotary Club has begun its annual Flags for Heroes campaign. To honor a military member, first responder, or other past or present hero, people or organizations may sponsor a flag to be flown the weeks before and after Memorial Day 2017. Over 500 flags will be proudly displayed around The Circle in Georgetown, along Route 404 at Delaware Technical Community College, across from the Millsboro Post Office and at the Route 24 east entrance of Millsboro.

Over the past three years, the project has provided over $42,000 worth of support to local charities and Rotary projects. These include college scholarships, grants to community nonprofit organizations, Easter Seals Camp Fairlee camperships, and scholarships to the Rotary Youth Leadership Award Conference.

Sponsorship of a flag is $50 per individual honoree. Checks should be made payable to the Delaware Community Foundation, with G-M Rotary Flags for Heroes written in the memo box. Checks may be given to a Georgetown-Millsboro Rotary Club member or mailed to Delaware Community Foundation, 36 The Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947. A receipt from the Delaware Community Foundation will be sent to donors for their tax-deductible contributions.
