Gloria Delores (Sherlock) Lanning, loved children
Gloria Delores (Sherlock) Lanning, 78, of Lewes, (formerly of Glenmoore, Pa.) passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at her home. Born Aug. 2, 1938, in Luzerne County, Pa., Gloria was the daughter of the late Edward and Mabel Sherlock.
Gloria graduated from Shickshinny High School and worked in several factories, before working as a teller and in the accounting department at a credit union. She moved to Delaware in 2016 to be close to the beach and her children.
She is survived by her son Richard Jr. and wife Denise Lanning of Lincoln, and son Jeffrey and wife Genevieve Lanning of Lewes. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Richard Lanning Sr. and her daughter Brenda (Lanning) Maculley.
Gloria loved children and loved spending time with her grandchildren Kristen, Jennifer, Susan, Michael, Richard and Ricky. She also loved spending time with her 13 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family, loved shopping, and just getting together with friends.
Services will be held at Hibernia United Methodist Church, 220 Hibernia Road, Coatesville, Pa., Saturday, March 4, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Gloria's name to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
