Greek festival set July 29-Aug. 1

July 27, 2016

Delmarva's largest Greek festival is set Friday, July 29 to Thursday, Aug. 1, at the Roland Powell Convention Center on 40th Street and the Bay in Ocean City, Md. Attendees come for the food and stay for the fun! This is the 27th year the convention center has been transformed into a place for all things Greek, feeding and entertaining thousands of Delmarva visitors and local families alike.

Doors open at noon daily so hungry Greek festival goers can get delicious, authentic, traditional Greek cuisine. All menu items are available for lunch or dinner, dine-in or carry-out, including baked lemon chicken, lamb shank, keftedes (Greek-style meatballs), dolmathes (spiced ground beef/rice wrapped in grape leaves), spanakopita (spinach wrapped in filo dough), tiropitas (cheese wrapped in filo dough), Greek salad, pastitsio (macaroni, seasoned ground beef/cheese topped with bechamel sauce), moussaka (eggplant, potato, seasoned ground beef/cheese topped with bechamel sauce) and the famous gyro sandwich (lamb/beef & chicken).

Have a leisurely lunch and shop The Marketplace for the many unique vendors of jewelry, imports and art. Then hit the beach and come back for dinner and dancing when the place really rocks, after 5 p.m., to the Greek sounds of Golden Flame. Not shy, grab a hand and dance! A little shy, OK, enjoy a Greek coffee and dessert while watching the others “get their Greek on."

For dessert, enjoy a real Greek coffee and some sweets from the amazing selection of pastries or have a hot bowl of fresh loukoumathes (fried dough puffs topped with honey syrup and cinnamon) or the festival’s famous rice pudding, or one of each! To extend the Greek Festival experience, stock up on pastries like baklava and Greek cookies, they freeze great (if they last that long)!

All Greek Festival proceeds benefit community and ministry programs of St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Admission is free and there is plenty of free parking. The hall is air-conditioned, and has handicap access and an ATM on site. For more information, go to www.OceanCityGreekFestival.com or call 410-289-2800.
