Growth will cause more harm than good

January 5, 2024

As I sit reading the latest edition of the Cape Gazette, I ask myself, will the building ever stop?

Now, I certainly don’t hold the history of the generations that have lived here all of their lifetimes. However, being here for more than 20 years has afforded me the opportunity of seeing the growth of our communities that feels out of control. There are houses being built everywhere, like in every nook and cranny. It’s amazing to me that what appears to be easy to understand, is not being understood by those making the decisions.

This ongoing growth is going to ultimately cause more harm than good. I’ve seen and read the previous letters of concern. But it feels to me like those in positions of power don’t care about quality of life and/or humanity. When what appears to be greed takes precedence over people, we have a problem. It’s hard to understand how those making decisions can think this is a good plan, because it’s not a plan at all. Can you imagine trying to get out of here if there was a natural disaster? There is a trickle-down effect to this insanity. I say moratorium now!
