Halton Glen Timmons, SDSA building chief

June 28, 2017

Halton Glen Timmons, 59, of Millsboro went home to be with the Lord Monday, June 26, 2017, while at home surrounded by his loving family after a valiant nine-year battle with cancer.

Glen was born in Lewes March 20, 1958, to Clarence Vernon Timmons and Estella Angeline (Hudson) Timmons. He graduated from Sussex Central High School Class of 1976.

Glen began working at the Southern Delaware School of the Arts when it first opened in 1998 and eventually became the chief of the building. He loved his job at the school and built lasting friendships with the staff and the children who went through the school.

Glen was a member of the Journey Wesleyan Church in Millsboro. He was an encyclopedia of wealth when it came to sports and was an avid Orioles and Colts fan. The time spent with his family and loving on his grandkids was his true passion. He will be forever remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Matthew Timmons. He is survived by the love of his life of 37 years, Robin A. (Parkhurst) Timmons; a son, Travis Timmons and his wife Jodi of Laurel; three grandchildren, Cheyenne, Maverick and Trenton Timmons, all of Laurel; his parents, Vernon and Angie Timmons of Millsboro; a brother, Rex Timmons and his wife Lisa of Millsboro, and a sister, Wendy Kirby and her husband Martin of Millsboro. He is also survived by his father- and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Louise Parkhurst of Georgetown; a brother-in-law, Kenny Parkhurst and his wife Emilie of Milton; two sisters-in-law, Gail Brown and her husband George of Milton, and Connie Ennis and her husband Steve of Laurel; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank the staff of Tunnell Cancer Center, Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Vitas Hospice for the love and support to Glen over his battle with cancer.

A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, July 1, at the Southern Delaware School of the Arts, 27 Hosier St., Selbyville, where the funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Carey’s Cemetery in Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Glen’s name to the Southern Delaware School of the Arts to purchase and dedicate a new stage curtain in his memory. Please make checks payable to SDSA and include Glen’s name and your driver’s license number on the memo line of the check and mail to the above address or make donations in his name to the Tunnell Cancer Center, 18947 John J. Williams Hwy., Millsboro, DE 19966.
