Healthcare student mini-grant applications due April 15

March 18, 2024

Each year, March 18 is designated as National Health Workforce Well-Being Day to recognize the seriousness of widespread healthcare worker burnout and the need to strengthen health workforce well-being, according to the National Academy of Medicine Collaborative.

Since 2022, the Delaware Institute for Healthcare Education Advancement has been offering scholarships to students in healthcare fields to address the need for self-care. Founded and supported by clinicians in Delaware, DIHEA recognizes the need to support the well-being of students in the healthcare workforce pipeline.

In 2024, DIHEA is doubling the number of scholarships to 22 to encourage Delawareans to pursue education in healthcare by providing scholarships of $100 to each winner. These awards can be used in any way the recipients choose, with a special emphasis on self-care. The goal is to support healthcare students with non-tuition expenses, such as gas money to get to clinical sites or other personal needs.

Students who are pursuing a certificate, or college or postgraduate degree in a healthcare field are eligible to apply by Monday, April 15.

For more information and to apply, go to delawareinstitute.org/scholarships.

DIHEA team members would like to thank supporters, especially First State Orthopaedics, Delaware Association of Nurse Anesthetists, and the surgical staff at Bayhealth, for their belief in the well-being of future healthcare workforce members.
