November 20, 2017

The Maryland Women's Business Center's Second Annual Award Luncheon was held Oct. 17. Pinnacle Talent Acquisition President and CEO Dawn Taylor was presented the Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award. The award is in recognition of Taylor's leadership, advocacy and engagement in empowering women in the workplace and strengthening the state's and county's economy. Taylor grew up in Selbyville and is a graduate of Indian River High School.

In acknowledgement of the honor, she was presented with official citations from Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Maryland, and Sen. Anthony Muse, D- Prince George's County, Md.. Her nomination spoke to her dedication to the staffing and human resources consulting industry where she has amassed a large network, and life-changing and life-affirming relationships.

Taylor has helped many people find the jobs of their dreams and secure their futures. She has helped numerous companies acquire top-notch talent along with ensuring companies continued growth via human resources consulting and outsourcing. Taylor and her colleagues have helped nonprofit and for-profit entities throughout the region with human resources consulting.

Taylor's life is a superior example to everyday women working to better their communities as they grow their businesses. "I am humbled by this honor. Women entrepreneurs face immense difficulties managing work and family, along with competing in a world that does not recognize our leadership in this arena. For over 10 years, women have been starting more companies than our male counterparts. However, funding, loans and support are not readily available. Consequently, we need the Maryland Women's Business Center's support that has made a difference in all areas of business for women," said Taylor.

"The MWBC applauds the phenomenal women entrepreneurs in Maryland that are having a significant impact on their community. It wouldn't be possible without the collective participation from our business counselors, clients, volunteers, partners and sponsors who believe in the power of women entrepreneurship," said Kiesha Haughton, MWBC managing director.
