It’s time for a clean sweep in Dewey

September 8, 2017

This election is vitally important for Dewey, because complaints by 20 different individuals have brought the actions of the town manager, and the council's inaction, into serious question. We each decided to run after seeing the council delay action for weeks, then never do the responsible thing to immediately suspend the town manager with pay, remove him from town hall and prohibit access to all records and potential evidence.

Now we have document shredding in town hall to make things even worse.

Predictably, the two incumbents running are trying desperately to distract voters, and what is being said is that the three of us are candidates put up to run by the big bars. The responses from our supporters show the voters in Dewey Beach are not swayed by their attempts to change the subject.
Each one of us plans to remain independent of any organized groups and the big business. Our goal is to make the town council a place for public participation in decision making, where citizens can be heard. As members of town council, we will end the distractions and bring back the focus to important issues like flooding and maintaining the 35-foot height limit so dear to all of us, and so important to the character of our town.

We are proud of the response we have received from Dewey Beach stakeholders. People wo don't always see eye to eye are supporting our cause for change. We believe that we are already bringing people together because they are excited and proud that we are running. Voters want to put up our signs and have us sit on their porches or at their businesses to talk, ask questions, provide information, and help in any way they can.

Six former Dewey mayors and numerous former commissioners have now endorsed us. We are humbly grateful for this widespread outpouring of support and encouragement, and we hope to talk to as many people as we can. We invite everyone to call or email us with comments and questions.

And we hope that together we can provide a Clean Sweep for Change in Dewey Beach.

We wish to thank all of you at the Cape Gazette for your time and interest in the election in Dewey Beach. We appreciate you taking the time to meet with the three of us to have a conversation about the important issues facing Dewey Beach.
