James ‘Jimmy’ Green, loved helping others

December 7, 2016

James Green, 79, of Milton, better known as Jimmy, answered the call of the Master Friday, Dec. 2. Jimmy was born Dec. 12,1936, in Barnwell,S.C., to the late Lucille Green and Richard Frazier.

After traveling and taking residence in a few other states, he moved to Delaware where he settled and made his home. Jimmy worked at Draper King Cole for 40 years where he was a very hard, loyal and devoted worker, and hated to miss any tIme.
Jimmy was a very independent person and loved helping where he could lend a hand. Jimmy was a great family man, and would never let his children, or anyone else for that matter, go without. If he had it, you had it. Jimmy was the type of person who wasn't ashamed to tell the struggles of his life, and so if you ever encountered him by the time you left you would think you'd known him for years.
Jimmy loved sitting around with family and friends listening to quartet music, playing cards and watching Westerns, wrestling, and all-time favorite Walker Texas Ranger.
In 1965 Jimmy met the love of his life, Wyonia D. Stevens (you should have heard that story) and remained together until her death May 25, 2014 (49 years). If you didn't know them you wouldn't have understood them but the love they shared for one another was unbreakable.
Jimmy leaves nine beloved children, three daughters: Linda Cook (John) of Laurel, Gladys Bosty (Leroy) of Milford, and Joanne Green of Delray Beach, Fla., six sons: Elvis Stevens of Ellendale, Arthur Stevens (Simone) of Seaford, Tyrone Green (Shilondra) of Ellendale, Ricky Stevens of Milton, Freddie Stevens (Luchelle) of Milton, and Anthony Green of Delray Beach; one brother: Thomas Green (Cynthia) of Eden, Md.; three sisters: Josephine Vincent of Allen, Irene Price and Gladys Hankerson of Delray Beach. He also leaves two granddaughters he raised, Ty'Ja Best of Milford and Ja'Onna Gass of Rehoboth; along with 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a very special sister-in-law, Charlene Stevens; best friend Felton Lewis and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Jimmy was preceded in death by five brothers: Worney Green, Richard Frazier, Allen Hunter, Urlee Frazier and William Green; his mother-in-law, Mary F Stevens; and father-in-law Jason Winstead.
