Janice L. Lewis, retired administrative assistant

Janice L. Lewis, 88, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024, at a long-term care facility in Lewes, after an extended illness.  

Jan was born in Martinsburg, W.Va., April 1, 1936, daughter of the late Opal Gay Stephens and H. Vernon Lewis.

She is survived by her sister, Judith Lewis Maness (Jim). She was a devoted aunt to her nephew, Ryan Grubb (Carla) of Waynesboro, Va.; and her niece, Ashleigh M. Steiger (Tony) of Shiloh, Ill. Jan was a great-aunt to Jacob, Haylie, Kennedy, Emery and Aiden, and a great-great-aunt to Preston, Killian, Colton and Raelynn. She is also survived by many friends, including two of her closest friends, Carol Overman and Elaine Gregg.

Jan attended Martinsburg High School (1954) and Stayer Business School. She lived most of her adult life in Bethesda, Md., and has resided in Rehoboth for the last eight years, after many years of vacationing there. Jan was an administrative assistant for MidCity Development in Bethesda for 40 years.

She enjoyed skiing, traveling, reading and art.  

The family plans to hold a celebration of life at a later date.
