Jerry M. Jordan, senior manager

Jerry M. Jordan, 76, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. She was born Friday, Jan, 17, 1941, in Charleston, S.C., daughter of the late Henry and Patricia McDaniel.

Jerry started her career with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in the first year of its existence as a clerk/typist recruited from North Carolina back when clerk/typists were hard to come by in Washington, D.C. She worked her way up to a GS-15 as the administrative management staff in every bureau in the agency before going overseas as a foreign service officer with the original Tiger Team in Budapest, serving all of the Eastern Europe and Eurasia Bureau.

Over the span of her 49 years with USAID, she traveled to 96 countries. Jerry has been presented with numerous awards, including the prestigious Luther I. Replogle Award for Management Improvement at the State Department. Most recently Jerry has served up until her death as a senior management advisor with the Office of Transition Initiatives (OTI).

She was truly one of a kind and the agency has benefited from her years of commitment to it.

Ms. Jordan is survived by her daughter, Ninette Corey of Virginia Beach, Va.; her son, John Douglas Johnson of Olney, Md.; her four grandchildren: John Johnson Jr. of Fulton, Md., Jennifer Corey of Raleigh, N.C., Madison Chicovsky of Roswell, Ga., and Peyton Johnson of Mount Airy, Md.; her sister, Mary Ann Blackwood of Rehoboth Beach; and many beloved cousins and nieces.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Feb. 13, at 11 a.m., at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private.
