Jesse Garron’s tribute to Elvis Christmas show set Dec. 10
Elvis tribute artist Jesse Garron will be performing at 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10, at the MOT Senior Center in Middletown. The event will feature Elvis Christmas songs and other hits to raise funds in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Delaware Chapter. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with hors d'oeuvres, cash bar and silent auction which includes a handmade mink teddy bear, gift baskets and prints by artist Larry Anderson.
The event holds special meaning for Garron and the band. His mother was diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkin lymphoma in May 2015, and a dear friend and supporter of the band was diagnosed at the same time with leukemia. Garron's mother won her battle; the friend did not. Event organizer Carolyn Stanley lost her husband Bruce to leukemia last December and is planning this event to help her cope with her loss and raise funds for the cause. This event is a way to honor those courageous individuals who have fought leukemia and lymphoma and to fund blood cancer research, patient access and advocacy.
"When Carolyn asked us to help her with this event, we jumped at the chance," says Garron. "The past year was painful proof that lymphoma and leukemia can strike anyone at any time." Garron has been entertaining audiences for 18 years with his portrayal of Elvis Presley. Based in Delaware, he performed his first concert as a free showcase in 1998 and has since emerged as a leader among tribute artists, being ranked among the most respected professional acts in local and nationwide venues. His powerful voice and stage presence have earned him acclaim as "The Closest Thing to the King." What began as a solo act with pre-recorded backing tracks has now grown to a full band show with live musicians, choreographed backup singers and an international fan base.
