John J. Ellis, electronics engineer

October 17, 2016

John J. Ellis, 61, of Lewes, formerly of Ambler, Pa., died peacefully on Friday, Oct. 14, 2016 surrounded by his beloved family. He leaves behind his grieving wife, Marian (nee Princivalle). They were married more than 40 years. He was born in Philadelphia on December 16, 1954 to the late John and Emma (McGregor).

John graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School in 1972. He later earned his BS in Electronics Engineering from Spring Garden College. John spent most of his career at Ford Motor Company’s Electronics Division, Lansdale, Pa. He enjoyed cycling, competing locally with the Doylestown Wheelmen, but the ocean brought him his greatest joy. He loved to fish and boat and would always say, “If it swims, I’ll eat it.” He will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched in many special ways.

John was the love of Marian's life, best friend and soulmate. He cherished his wonderful children and their spouses: Lauren and Sean Owens and Michael and Nina (Marano) Ellis. They deeply mourn their father and mentor who taught them how to become the wonderful adults they are today. John also leaves behind a granddaughter, Ava Ellis Owens, with whom he had too little precious time.

John was preceded in death by his mother Emma and his father John and his father-in-law Jim Princivalle. John was an only child but he loved his mother-in-law, sisters and brother-in-laws very much.

He will be sorely missed by Veronica Princivalle, Karin and Bill David, Susan and Jimmy Roynan, Jim and Jennifer Princivalle, Fran and Mark Chadwick and all of their children: David, Kristen, Emily, Timmy, Katie, Jimmy, Sean, Annie, Regina, Matt, Luke, Claire and Grace.

Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of John’s life on Oct. 19 at 11:30 a.m. at the Emil J. Ciavarelli Family Funeral Homes and Crematory,  Ambler, Pa.. A visitation will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in John’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, ALZ.org/donate.
