John "Jack" Campbell Jr., avid sports fan

John "Jack" Campbell Jr., 79, of Millsboro, passed away Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, after a short illness at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. He was born Tuesday, July 19, 1938, in Chester, Pa., son of the late John and Mary (Dooley) Campbell.

Jack graduated from Ridley High School, Class of 1956, where he was a member of the basketball team. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves. Jack lived in Brookhaven, Pa., for 28 years, after growing up in Crum Lynne, Pa. He worked at Westinghouse, Boeing Vertol, and Liggett and Myers Tobacco Company. Jack was a member of the American Legion Post 28 and was an avid sports fan, Penn State and the Philadelphia Eagles being among his favorites. More than anything, however, he cherished spending time with family and friends. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Jack is survived by his children: J. Patrick Campbell and his wife Cindy Phillips of Silver Spring, Md., and Jacqueline Taggart and her husband Dave of Levittown, Pa.; his grandchildren: Alaina Taggart, Julianna Taggart, Kellen Campbell and Brady Campbell; his former wife, Patricia Reilly Campbell of Levittown; and his sister, Judith Hood of Holmes, Pa.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 10, at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions in Jack's memory to: American Legion Post 28, 31768 Legion Road, Millsboro, DE 19966.
