Joseph Brown, grocery store clerk

Joseph Kim Brown, age 60, died Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa., following a brief illness. He was born April 4, 1956, in Milford, and was a 1974 graduate of Cape Henlopen High School.

Mr. Brown was a dedicated employee of Lloyds Market in Lewes for many years after a long career with many Sussex County grocery store chains. He loved his family, cooking, music, cars, racing, tinkering in his garage, and his huge flock of returning purple martins.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his father, Joseph R. Brown. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Charlotte; his mother, Patricia Brown; his two sisters: Carol Betts and her husband David, and Kristie LeGates and her husband Clem; his brother, Patrick and his wife Cindy; his sister-in-law, Janice Ferneyhough; his two nieces, Mackinzie Brown and Samantha Tanner; and his two nephews, James Ferneyhough IV and Parker Brown.

A Celebration of his Life will be held Thursday, March 23, at 11 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m.
