Joshua Lee Young, great sense of humor

May 2, 2024

Joshua Lee Young, 34, of Lewes, much loved youngest son of Kyle and Molly Young, passed away Monday, April 29, 2024. He is survived by his parent; and his brothers, Travis Young of Rockville, Md., and Zachary Young of Ellicott City, Md. Josh was born in Columbia, Md., Sept. 25, 1989, and he grew up in Ellicott City.

In 2011, he graduated from Coastal Carolina University, and he later received his master’s degree in education from Loyola University in 2016. He worked as an educator and in social services for both adults and children. Josh loved music, cooking, reading, watching and critiquing movies, and all sports; he was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He recently enjoyed coaching the Delmarva Rush girls U-10 Purple soccer team and will be sorely missed in that role. Josh savagely competed with his senior citizen neighbors on the pickleball and bocce courts in Nassau Grove. He made lifelong friends everywhere he lived.

Josh was blessed with an easy-going manner and a sense of humor that charmed everyone he met. He pursued writing as an avocation, and his family Christmas letters were legendary. Josh was a kind soul who would put others’ needs above his own without hesitation. His love for animals was the source of much joy and sometimes concern, as he was once nearly run over when he attempted to stop traffic on a busy highway in order to see a turtle safely to the other side. He will be dearly missed by his sister-in-law, Erin; his nephews, Arthur and George; and his grandparents, Roberta and Tom Young.

In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations be made to UNICEF, unicefusa.org.
