Knights of Columbus to host Polish Dinner May 14 in Rehoboth Beach

Star of the Sea Council 7297 raising funds for Ukraine relief
May 8, 2022

The Knights of Columbus Star of the Sea Council 7297 will hold its annual Polish Dinner Saturday, May 14, in the St. Edmond Catholic Church Parish Hall, 407 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach. Event proceeds will support the Ukraine Solidarity Fund.

Local Knights councils stand in solidarity with the 7,000 Knights in Poland and 2,000 in Ukraine and their families. The international headquarters of the Knights of Columbus established the Ukraine Solidarity Fund, and 100% of fund donations go directly to provide humanitarian aid for Ukraine.

The Knights are working with councils in Poland and Ukraine to aid refugees directly. Through extensive local connections, including networks of local Knights and volunteers, essential resources and services are reaching families.

Star of the Sea Council 7297 has already donated $1,000 to the Ukraine Solidarity Fund, but members want to do more. To raise additional funds, Star of the Sea will also hold a Swing Into Spring Golf Raffle for two rounds of golf at beautiful Baywood Greens in Long Neck, including cart, GPS and range balls. Tickets are $10 each or three for $25. Only 200 tickets will be sold, and limited tickets remain! Call Mark at 240-478-1011 to purchase.

Thanks to Baywood Greens, 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Ukraine Solidarity Fund. Individual contributions to the Ukraine Solidarity Fund will also be accepted.

Doors for the Polish Dinner open at 5 p.m. with Polish background music, and guests can socialize and engage with other attendees. Rye bread and butter and cucumber salad will already be on the tables family style to share. Beer, wine, soda and bottled water will be available at the beverage table by donation.

Takeout orders can be picked up between 5 and 5:30 p.m. or from 6:30 to 6:45 p.m. Table service will begin just after 5:30 p.m. The menu includes pierogi, fresh and smoked kielbasa, golumpki (stuffed cabbage), and mashed potatoes. Sauerkraut will be brought to the table to serve family style. Coffee and tea will be available. After dinner, a selection of cookies will be brought to each table, a surprise Ukrainian treat!

The dinner cost is $25 per person. A Ukrainian remembrance favor will be given to all the ladies. At least a dozen door prizes will be given away during the dinner, and the winning ticket for the Swing Into Spring Golf Raffle will also be drawn. The raffle winner does not need to be present. Rehoboth Beach parking meters and permit requirements will not be active until the next day, Sunday, May 15.

Both dine-in and takeout orders are limited. All meals must be paid for in advance. To order meals, call Joe at 302-858-7056 or Bob at 443-845-9700. Make checks payable to "KOC 7297.”
