Kudos to P&Z Commissioner Ross

I salute Sussex County Planning & Zoning Commissioner Marty Ross for his admonition to the state transportation planners regarding increasing the capacity of Sussex County roads. I wholeheartedly agree with Mr. Ross' statement to "Quit studying and start doing. The roads must have a PHD in something, because they have been studied enough."

I suggest that any elected or government official who proposes yet another study, or hiring another consultant, to address the critical road and traffic situation in our county be tarred, feathered and run out of town on a rail.

If they spend a dime on another study they should be charged with malfeasance in office, embezzling from the state or county treasury and being negligent in their duty to the people they serve. It will take creativity, intelligence and above all, courage to start doing.

Perhaps now an almost unsurmountable task, given the time that has been lost dithering and kicking the can down the road for so many years. But if the powers that be don't, in the words of Commissioner Ross, "Start doing," now, this special place where we live will become a place no one wants to live or visit.

"We can't land-use our way into better roads." A most intelligent observation on the part of Commissioner Marty Ross. I hope others will step up to the plate who possess the same vision, focus and intelligence of Mr. Ross.
