Kudos to the splitting of Sussex into two counties

October 27, 2017

Bravo to Peter Harrigan and his editorial Sussex should split into two counties. Although eastern Sussex County is the most populated, most overdeveloped and most heavily trafficked part of the county, it is under-represented in Georgetown. The comprehensive planning, or lack thereof, in eastern Sussex County is atrocious and the region continues to deteriorate, although we generate the largest revenue in the County. Creating two counties may be a difficult if not impossible task, but creating a more equitable system of representation with the number of commissioners elected based on population would be a wise and obtainable goal. Let the voters decide.
