Lauren Songer takes lead at Fins Ale House and Raw Bar in Berlin, Md.

March 4, 2017

"When I started working for Jeff Hamer as a high school student, I thought it would just be a fun summer job at the beach. However, seven years later, it has proven to be much more than that," says Lauren Songer, who has been named general manager of Fins Ale House and Raw Bar in Berlin Md.

Songer, a graduate of Sussex Central High School and a Salisbury University alum, is a true example of what Fins Hospitality Group owner Hamer strives to offer all his employees, a place to call home for the rest of their lives. "The best part about working for Jeff is the people he and his establishments attract. He's created an atmosphere that keeps long-term staff and customers which embodies our #finsfamily mission."

Songer began her career with the Fins Group at Claws Seafood House over seven years ago as a host. Quickly working her way to food expo, she was the anchor that held the kitchen together for many years. When the time came for the company to grow as a whole, the Hamer philosophy is to first look within.

"After her years of hard work and commitment to the company, 'little Lauren' was a natural choice," says Hamer. In late October 2016 Songer transitioned to management via the seasonal shutdown of Claws Seafood House and the grand opening of the newest Fins Ale House location at 119 N. Main St. in Berlin. The new location has been a huge success, equally contributed to the town and the Fins employees.

Songer comments, "I'm beyond excited to see what we can accomplish in Berlin as a company and as a part of the community. The town has welcomed us with open arms, and it's been a humbling experience for all of us."

A number of events are already in the works in conjunction with the town, nonprofit agencies, and a number of local Berlin businesses, all with Songer at the helm. On a final note, she adds, "This company has provided me with an opportunity to grow in ways that I couldn't have imagined, and a family to do it alongside of, and for that I'm extremely grateful."
