Lecture to feature lighthouses of the Delaware Bay March 7

February 29, 2024

The Overfalls Foundation will host a program about lighthouses of the Delaware Bay from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, March 7, at the Lewes Public Library, 111 Adams Ave., Lewes.

The guest speaker is Bill Hicks, who will describe the pivotal role lighthouses once played (and sometimes still play) in guiding ships to the major ports, businesses and homes of Delawareans for generations. The historic campus coordinator and lead interpreter for the Lewes Historical Society, Hicks will address the importance of these silent sentinels scattered throughout the Delaware Bay and Delaware River. He will present while wearing the historic garb of a 19th century lighthouse keeper.

Attendees are asked to arrive 15 minutes early so as not to interrupt the presentation. The event is free and open to the public.
