Legacy Academy sets kindergarten preview day April 22

March 7, 2024

Legacy Academy announced the opening of its kindergarten program for the 2024-25 school year at its campus in Harbeson.

“Our kindergarten program is truly one of a kind,” said Karen Barbrow, head of school. “As the only classical Christian school in Sussex County, you won’t find anything else like it in the area. Legacy’s kindergarten program offers solid academics and enriching electives from a Christian worldview focused on shaping students’ hearts and minds.”

Legacy’s kindergarten is a full-day program with individualized instruction five days per week in a small-class setting. Enrollment is currently open and financial assistance is available for families who qualify. The school will host a kindergarten preview day at 9 a.m., Monday, April 22. “The early years are so formative,” said kindergarten teacher Eva Parks. “This is the perfect time to capture wonder and build lifelong habits.”

Legacy Academy and its kindergarten program follow a classical model of education where students are appropriately challenged in a nurturing environment. “At this age, children learn best through repetition and rhythm, so we teach most everything with story, song, chant or rhyme. That’s what makes kindergarten engaging and enjoyable,” said Parks.

Parks brings 15 years’ teaching experience to the Legacy faculty. She holds degrees in political science and legislative affairs from the University of Central Florida and George Washington University. She homeschooled her two children before coming to Legacy in 2023.
