We urge DNREC and all other relevant state departments to approve and/or seek all the necessary permits to make Rehoboth’s outfall project a reality. On Oct. 19 we attended the workshop that DNREC conducted for Rehoboth citizens, and we were very impressed and reassured with the agency’s competence and thorough professional evaluation of this project, now going back many years.
We appreciate their obvious concern for our state’s environment, including our Inland Bays, ocean and beaches.
Given all the tests and data analyses that their staff presented, we are very satisfied that this project has been fully evaluated and is a safe way to proceed. We felt that all the concerns raised by the public during the workshop had already been adequately researched to a positive conclusion. In our opinions, almost all rational skeptics would feel comfortable going ahead with this project, in light of the results of all the analyses.
We look forward to this project being wrapped up, so our town and the state can move on to more pressing environmental concerns, namely the threats from global warming and climate change. We would like to see more action from Rehoboth and the state to do our part to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, stimulate alternative energy sources, promote green development and building practices, harden ourselves for worse storms, etc.
