Lewes BPW candidate expresses concerns

May 18, 2018

Open letter to BPW customers:

Many thanks to the people who supported my campaign for the BPW board and congratulations to the winners in the election. I feel they will serve with thought and wisdom.

On the matter of poor turn-out: approximately one-third of the registered voters decided this election. There are 3,700 electric meters and 3,000 water meters that represent about 5,000 possible voters who are not represented. We must correct that.

Customers should not be removed from the rolls because they missed voting in the last two elections; they should be removed because they died, moved away or are not current in their payments for the service.

Improving the website might improve this situation by listing eligible voters and those who are registered. Voting information should also be given on the website along with current activities.

Again, thank you for your support and good luck to the new board.
