Lewes Chamber Players to perform Oct. 1

Concert opens St. Cecilia Guild's second music season
September 27, 2017

The Eric Mintel Quartet, the first of the season's two jazz ensembles, will appear at St. Peter's at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 13, during the Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival. Mintel will return after a standing-room-only concert last year with a program of jazz standards and fresh compositions. His performing credits include the White House, the Kennedy Center and Marian McPartland's "Piano Jazz" on NPR.

The Lewes Chamber Players  return at 3 p.m., Friday, Nov. 12, at St. Peter's with "Parlez-Vous Français?" - a concert of French arias sung by internationally renowned countertenor Augustine Mercante, a Delaware resident. The parish's recently acquired Hubbard harpsichord will accompany the string players in works by Rameau and Messiaen.

The Lewes Chamber Players feature violinist Sylvia Ahramjian, cellist Ovidiu Marinescu, and Thomas on the organ and harpsicord, as well as special guests from time to time.

At 5 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 10, the public is invited to Advent Lessons and Carols sung by the St. Peter's Choir and modeled on the famous service at King's College in Cambridge.

Highlights later in the season include Delaware's Kent Chamber Choir; Dover's community handbell ensemble, the Capital Ringers; the Delaware Women's Chorus; and the American Choral Directors Association Concert.

All St. Cecilia Guild events at St. Peter's are free and open to the public. A freewill offering will be gratefully accepted. For more information, go to www.stpeterslewes.org/music/st-cecilia-guild.
