Lewes Christmas came for wounded local veterans

January 16, 2018

Another Christmas with the Sussex Family YMCA and Bay Forest Community in Ocean View teaming up to bring Christmas to more than 80 combat-wounded military families primarily resettled in Delaware.

In addition to all the wrapped gifts for the military children (angels), holiday family baskets were filled with lots of goodies donated by Giant, Fisher's Popcorn, Jimmy's Grille, Browseabout Books, The Point Coffee, Fifer Orchards, Kilwin's, and Harry and Davids. Beautiful house plants for each family were donated by the Lewes Ladies Book Club and Windsor's Flowers.

Concord Pet Store carefully packaged special bags for family pets (over 100) and they may have been the favorite gifts of all. Santa's reindeer (helpers) were kept very busy driving and delivering these bundles of happiness to all the families. We are grateful and indebted to all military families for their service. May the future bring them peace and happiness.
