Lewes Post Office facelift appreciated

August 25, 2013

Kudos to Bruce Chandler and the dedicated volunteers that he has assembled to help give the Lewes Post Office a much needed facelift.  As a historic landmark in the town, it is truly a diamond in the rough in need of some TLC.

It can be seen both from street level on Front Street as well as from across the canal, so the planned landscaping improvements will definitely help improve that stretch of streetscape.

I can only hope the momentum builds to help fund restoration of the interior.

The woodwork, doors and grand staircase are just screaming to be brought back to their former glory.  The building is truly a jewel in downtown Lewes.  Mr. Chandler's vision will help visitors to look at the building with a new appreciation, to be preserved for generations to come.
